Hey!
I've been practicing with my tablet some more and focusing on color. ^^ I was too lazy to draw my own lineart, so I borrowed someone else's. Lineart: Arrow Angels, by Brush: Medium: Photoshop Elements 5.0 Time: 3.5-4 hours (in the wee hours of midnight-3am) CommentsWhen I looked at what deviations had been submitted by the people I watch today, my jaw dropped, honest to goodness. This was one of four pieces of art in my inbox, and I stared at it for a good half a minute before noticing I had any others.
The coloring is absolutely incredible. The way you softened the tones on the skin rather than having them sharp and contrasted makes it look soft, not plastic, and I know for a fact most people can't manage that. The lips made me blink because I couldn't believe how real they looked; except for the size difference, I could tell you right now they look almost exactly like my lips when I wear red lip gloss. My most favorite thing about the picture overall? The eyes. Oh, my, the eyes! You've captured depth and sadness without making them oversized, wide, undersized, dark, or flat. Her eyes are so gorgeous and, pun not intended, eye-catching that they really express the meaning of the picture. The only critique I have is the hair. It does look beautiful and have the proper volume and shading for its position and color, but it looks more like a solid, perhaps a cream, than like hair. I don't claim to be an expert, but I suggest perhaps using heavier strokes so that there's contrast between the pieces of hair. Of course, I don't mean paint each hair individually, because that would make it look like it was wire rather than soft hair. I've noticed that it looks more realistic if there are wide strokes of very slight difference in color and luminosity. Very deserving of a favorite. -- "I lift my eyes up to the hills Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, The maker of heaven and earth." - Psalm 121: 1-2 *blush blush blush* =>u<= Again, you're comment amazes me. Thank you soo soooo much, you have the best things to say, and I'm thankful that you say them.
I took your critique to heart and worked on the hair, hopefully it doesn't look too wirey. Thank you again, I was painting this from 11pm-3am at night, so that completely blew over my head. -- The NEW secret to 1,000+ pageviews~~~> Thank you! ^^ It's a technique I'm trying to get better at.
-- The NEW secret to 1,000+ pageviews~~~> Oh my goodness...
The hair looks incredible! I just love how it's more defined toward the ends and softer on the crown of her head where the light would hit. I'm so glad you take critique to heart. You took your absolutely amazing picture and made it even better! You did the original in the middle of the night? -- "I lift my eyes up to the hills Where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, The maker of heaven and earth." - Psalm 121: 1-2 I couldn't have done it without your suggestion.
